How to teach math?

At least there are some things to consider for the purpose of learning mathematics can be achieved.

First: His teacher's own how?
Is the teacher, who will teach math, competent, reasonable, appropriate expertise? A competent teacher of mathematics is said not only stood the test of his ability in mastering course material. But also whether he is able to deliver that material to others, students? Requirement of at least someone (teacher, lecturer) can deliver material that is, to speak in front of the students to convey what he speaks. Many who know and understand about mathematics, but difficult to convey to others. It was once I witnessed myself when so students. But, I believe, the teachers are able to convey the material with good math, my understanding thing good too.

Thus, mastery of the material and ability to deliver it (to others) is a necessary condition to be able to achieve the goal of learning mathematics, but remember this is not enough. Not enough to guarantee that the mathematics learning objectives will be achieved.

A teacher / lecturer who give good understanding of the material and still need to learn, to enrich themselves with a lot of reading, not content themselves with the skills already possessed, and certainly need to do preparation before learning. No matter how great a teacher, when teaching is not prepared, I am pessimistic that the learning objectives will be achieved.

Second: The students then what?
That need to be considered by a teacher / instructor, who will teach mathematics, is that: students who learn math abilities vary. There are fast capturing the lessons, there is the usual course, and there is less rapid. They all, surely they want to learn math.
Therefore, we, as teachers who teach must never regard them the same capability of our ability. That is, do not assume their understanding, when we teach them, together with our understanding that has been studied previously. Most of them (students) need a relatively longer time than we are already learning, who are familiar with previous material, which had previous experience, who have advanced before, and who was good at before. And so, when explained, was not too fast not too slow. It also does not mean to underestimate students' abilities. Often that happens, the teacher explained by a very fast tempo, according to speed in understanding the material, less attention to whether students can follow it or not. The teacher explained offhand. Actions like this, most likely only be followed by a small majority of students only, just a clever course. While most other students (I estimate about 90%), will feel shuffling, unable to catch the teacher in explaining the speed.

Third: Facilities and infrastructure for learning how?
It is also somewhat affect the achievement of learning objectives. What I mean here facilities and may include: feasibility study places (classrooms, presence or absence of a laboratory, etc.), availability of learning tools (whiteboard, text books, etc.), availability of learning media, etc..
Fourthly, what? (Please add your own! This paper is still in the process of thinking, it would update whenever I can).

Why, exactly how to teach him how the heck? had been clarified yet?

Once again I emphasize, based on literature and expert opinion, there is no way to teach math best / most powerful? Thus, this simply only once, do it the way it was taught that as long as you can do! But look at and consider some things that have been listed above, please if you need to fill with things that escape my attention. Feel free to use any method, such as lectures (anyway this is the most widely used and popular mathematics teachers in Indonesia, even in the world perhaps?), Please also old methods or any other hot fixes. All methods or learning approaches, each has the privilege. Any method or approach you use, when optimized, surely the goal of learning mathematics coveted it, God willing, can be achieved

Developing of Mathematics Teaching Aids

Mathematics teaching aids as a media used when the teacher gives an explanation of the concepts, gives problems or provides feedback. Media are also used by the student when they do exercise, complete the tasks and present them. Technique in using a media must be able to accommodate the exploration, elaboration, and confirmation by the students.

Teachers must make a teaching aid and using it in class.

Function of Teaching Aids in Mathematics Learning

Based on Burner's opinion, learning should be started using real object first. Therefor, the process of mathematics learning should take place using models or real object to certain topics that can help student's understanding. thus, it is clear that the demonstration in mathematics is essential.
based on the above explanation, the transition from primary school student to junior high school is concrete operational stage for the formal stage of learning. Hence, in learning mathematics student still need demonstration to promote their understanding and fascination of meaningful mathematics.
Some function of teaching aids in mathematics learning are as follows:
  1. to make easier to understand a concept in mathematics. Example : flash cards, plane shapes teaching aid, solid shapes teaching aid, signs of "+" and "-".
  2. to strengthen or practice more on the concept that has been given. Example: card game of addition and subtraction operation of integers.
  3. to motivate or arouse students inters in a concepts. Example: the logic of power and limits or rows
  4. as learning resources

Media in Mathematics Teaching

The main idea of this topics is to give knowledge on the use of media in learning and teaching mathematics, and to invite math teachers to discuss the notion of media, media type, function and roles of instructional media, some benefits of instructional media, media selection, as well as some simple examples of media use in learning mathematics.

The use of media in teaching mathematics cannot be separated from teachers ability to empower a highly heterogeneous environment, so it is necessary to empower teacher to manipulate objects or environment that can help them in performing the teaching and learning process.

A teaching aid or mathematical manipulative is a concrete object which is designed so that student can learn some mathematical concept by manipulating it. The use of manipulative provides a way for children to learn concept in appropriate and hand on ways. The manipulative material should be related to the student real world. Mathematical manipulative are used in the first step teaching mathematical concept, to make the abstract mathematical concept more concrete to student. Thought concrete object, student can be directed to make representation of mathematical concept and they finally come to the concept of abstraction. Teacher and student can developing a media in mathematics teaching.

Innovative Teaching Mathematic

Some teacher must to know innovative teaching mathematics. One of the is using media or teaching aid.

Innovative teaching is one of mathematics education. In this article, you will learn to teach math with innovative teaching mathematics.

The use of patterns and communication to solve mathematical problems is a major theme in most elementary education programs. For the first mathematics course in such a program another critical theme is how to replace the fear of mathematics, in these future teachers, with enjoyment and self-confidence.

Many prospective elementary school teachers suffer from a variety of mathematical anxieties and thus they need to know right away that this class will be different from their previous “bad” experiences in mathematics. The activity presented here has been used as a first day activity in the first mathematics course for elementary school teachers at SUNY Potsdam.

It was created by Blair Madore with help from Victoria Klawitter, and field tested in various stages of improvement by Laura Person, Uma Iyer, and Cheryl Miller. Working together we (Miller and Madore) refined it into the activity presented here.

Its goal is to “set the right tone,” showing that the course will be both fun and demanding, and that what seems impossible at first can be solved when working together.

Teach Your Child Mathematics

Mathematics has been historically one of the most frightening subject for children and parent alike.
A question is How to teach your child math. How many parent need to chase their to chase their children all over the house to do their math homework.
Can math ever be fun subject to learn for most of us?
A answer is "Yes!" Math can ever be fun subject to learn for most of us.
Teach your child math since now. Now! Remember, mathematics education is important for child. We must know how to teach mathematics.

Strategy to teach mathematics

Some teacher have a different strategy to teach mathematics. How to teach Math? In this page,we will know what effective strategy to teach mathematics. In elementary school, advance school, or in academic. Read this article: Strategy to Teach Mathematics

Math students who are classified as slow learners. The students have not had a regular teacher since October of last year. Discipline is low in 2 of the classes and almost nonexistent in the other. I have 11 weeks until the end of the school year. Several of the students have a grade average for the semester (two week left in this semester) below 40. 75+% of the students have a failing grade at present. Performance reports of the students, that I received today (my second day with the classes) indicate that I have nine students with math skill at about 2nd grade level. 80% of the student are performing below 6th grade level, but one student is operating at an 11thgrade level
